Volunteer
There are many ways to become involved in the Denver
International Program as a volunteer.
MENTOR

Mentors from a variety of community
agencies and businesses work with international professionals to
help them gain new on-the-job skills and experience. Their commitment
can vary from one day to a year, with most mentor experiences lasting
four months, Mondays through Thursdays.
The rewards of mentoring outlast the experience, with
mentors and their agencies generally benefiting as much as their
mentees. New perspectives, international contacts, and life-long
friendships are often the result.

HOME-STAY
HOST
Both individuals and families
can provide host homes for participants during their stay in the
Denver area. All that is required is the availability of a private
bedroom with convenient bathroom facilities, provisions for breakfast
and dinner, and a clean and caring environment.
Most participants are independent adults between
25 and 45 years old. Because participants have RTD passes provided by the program, host homes are usually selected near bus or light rail routes.
Host homes may also be selected from outlying areas
during short programs that require hosts to provide
some transportation.

BOARD
MEMBER
The Denver International
Program is governed by a volunteer board of 10-15 dedicated community
members. These individuals come from all walks of life, linked by
their interest in international exchange.
The Board is actively involved in planning and implementing
D.I.P. events and activities, and bears responsibility for the financial
stability of the organization.
Meetings are held once a month, except July and December.

member, contact DIP@du.edu

PROJECT ASSISTANCE
Volunteers are needed
to help with D.I.P.’s various fundraising and social
activities during the year. In addition, there are opportunities
to serve on standing committees, such as development, host
homes, board recruitment, and others. For more information, e-mail
or call Daniela Procopio at 303-871-4487.
